Training older workers - effects, costs and benefits
Education and training are seen by many as a tool for increasing labour force participation and productivity. But can training also improve the labour outcomes of older workers? This question is especially pressing in the light of an ageing labour force and predicted labour shortages.
To answer this question, APE has reviewed an abundance of economic, educational and policy-related studies on the effects of on-the-job training and education on older workers’ labour outcomes. In cooperation with the Top Institute for Evidence Based Education Research (TIER), we further analysed the costs and benefits of training programmes older workers.
The results have been presented at a forum in Amsterdam, on October 26th, 2011. The research report will soon be made available on this website.
